Home Energy Audit
The Ontario Home Energy Audit Program is an energy conservation program that shows you how and where your home loses energy. Ontario is offering financial rebates of 50 per cent off the cost of a home energy audit, up to $150.
There are many benefits to doing a home energy audit. It will identify changes you can make to your home that could help you to:
- reduce your annual energy bill by up to 30 per cent
- improve your home’s resale value
- make your home more comfortable year round
- do your part to make Ontario’s environment cleaner.
A home energy audit will include a:
- basement-to-attic assessment of your home’s insulation, heating and cooling systems, and other energy uses
- “blower door” test to detect air leaks and drafts
- personalized Energy Efficiency Evaluation Report and recommendations.
If your home was built more than 10 years ago it could be losing a lot of energy, costing you extra money. The Ontario Home Energy Audit Program will help you find out if your home is losing energy from:
out-of-date energy guzzling furnaces- poor insulation
- energy-wasting appliances
- old water heaters
- leaks around poorly fitted doors, windows and sills.
Please note that the Ontario Home Energy Savings Program ended as scheduled on March 31, 2011. The Government of Ontario would like to thank the residents who participated in this program to reduce household consumption of energy in Ontario. Your commitment to energy efficiency will benefit Ontario for many years to come.
Although the Ontario Home Energy Savings Program has closed, the Ontario continues to offer financial rebates towards the cost of a Home Energy Audit under the Ontario Home Energy Audit Program.
